I unfortunately don't know Valencia, but if it's equivalent to Malaga, I'd say skip both, and instead add those days to the time you're spending in Sevilla. Seriously worth it, and would be a complete shame to do as much rushing around during your trip as you're planning on. (Malaga you can see in 1-2 days at most, but Sevilla easily needs 4 days on its own, and more make it better.)
I had a look in the guide for average weather temps and the difference between and is negligible.
I haven't been to Valencia but ended up spending most of my week-long Malaga visit along the coast instead (!), so I would suggest possibly skipping it. It is certainly a beautiful city with plenty of interesting sights but considering the other locations you are also visiting, more time in each of those cities would also be my suggestion.
Not what you asked,(and I know all cities mentioned well, the Andalusian ones far better), but beware trying to do too much and not finding the vibe. Neither do you advise where you can enter and exit the country or whether ten days includes flight (presumably) days.
Ten days divided by four cities less travel between some of many hours (door to door, in unfamiliar surroundings) may give you too little per city, where many tourists spend three or four days, like Madrid and Seville.

So looks like we have a general consensus then? haha...I guess I just have the American mentality of getting as much done in an little time as possible...but we'll stick to Madrid, Seville and Barcelona then. Any thoughts about what the weather will be like around early April?

It really depends a.) on what you want, and b.) on if you'll have a rental car available. Valencia and Malaga as cities are honestly nothing that special (typical European provincial cities), but both are within 1 hour of some pretty interesting stuff.
Malaga province is full of the famous Andalucian white villages which should be spectacular in April/May when the flowers are in bloom. You can also make day-trips to Granada to see the Alhambra which is one of the wonders of the world. In Valencia, the city itself, again, is nothing special. But there are some coastal towns like Peñiscola and Calpe which are pretty spectacular and have better beaches than Valencia.
Really, it's the small villages and natural landscapes that make the Spanish coast what it is, so I'd suggest getting a car either way .

i went to Spain many times and i love this country, especially the people.. they are very nice, friendly and helpful.. whenever you need an information they are happy to help you and they do it with big smile. once time i asked where i could had a dinner, the girl led me to her friend where i ate an excellent paella and drank sangria listening a boy that played a guitar singing an italian song for me..it was wonderful! the food is good (although the italian food is better!) and i think that the weather will be good in April. i went in september/october and it was very hot! i started in Barcelona moving toward to the South by car. i prefer Andalusia than Valencia..in andalusia there are many cities to visit like Siviglia,Cordoba, Granada (the best)..all beautiful and typical. there is the coast with its villages very nice like tarifa where you can see the real spanish life and eat good fish!. it's better rent a car. valencia is nice but i think that there are cities more interesting. i hope to help you for your choice and have a nice trip!
Valencia should not be so easily discarded and is not very far from Madrid or Barcelona. It is a lovely city, by the coastline, with a lot a to do. From April on the weather gets better. But, of course as another comment already said, Spain has a lot to see and do so you should try to use your time as best as you can and not try to put in too many sights into a short period of time.

I lived in valencia for half a year (american here) - there is A LOT for a tourist to see, and it is easy to get around. i LOVED! the city and highly recommend a couple days there - it's definitely the kind of city you can knock out attraction after attraction after attraction in short times (except if you want to spend lots of time in the ciudad de artes y ciencias exhibits). In summary: SO WORTH IT
I think Valencia is the best
