Hi guys, me and my girlfriend are thinking of travelling around America next year for a few months (hopefully 6 months depending on funds).
Yellowstone for the thermal stuff, Monument Valley - appears in lots of cowboy films, both rims of the very grand, Grand Canyon, anywhere in California or Montana or Arizona. The Rockies. Drive across the great plains get an idea of the vast of the place. Mesa Verde for the dwellings Too many places to think of.
Go on Google maps & use directions from say NY to LA & see what places you would pass & then stretch out either side & up & down. Check distances & drive times.
Steer clear of cities & visit small town USA. Have lots of money available to you.
Steve.
& did I mention Yellowstone?
Duly noted Steve, thanks so much for your input.
I'll definitely take it on board
Brian.
Follow this thread too, someone will put stuff on there too

Visit the roadtrippers website.
I'm planning on doing the same thing but on a much smaller scale. It gives you an estimate on the hours spent driving and dollars spent on fuel. Fantastic!
Good Luck with your planning.
Thanks Bunnies7! I'll be sure to take a look. Good luck with your trip, have fun!
spend a boat load of time on gmaps
