Organizing photo shoots in La Huasteca, San Luis Potosi

Hi,
I'm a photographer planning to be in San Luis Potosi in June to shoot around the La Huasteca area. I'm looking for good tips on economical and safe accommodations and transport options for myself and my team. Also would like to know if anyone has photographed at the Edward James, Las Pozas, concrete project and has knowledge about access or proximity to area from lodging and services. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

First of all, you need to be aware that while the Edward James Las Pozas site is in the state of San Luis Potosi, it is hours away from the city of San Luis Potosi itself.

The closest large city of any note would be Ciudad Valles, and the best place to stay there would be the Hotel Mission Ciudad Valles.

If you are looking to tour this area, the other cities of note are San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, and Queretaro to the west, Pachuca to the south or Tampico to the northeast. Both Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende are United Nations World Heritage sites and definitely worth visiting as they are extremely photogenic and fun places. I wrote a recent trip report on these places after visiting them last June.

Be aware that these would also be the safest cities to visit. The most dangerous places are primarily either to the west in the state of Chihuahua, northwest in the city of Ciudad Juarez or much farther south near the towns of Apatzingan or Colima. Stay away from those areas if possible,

Hope you enjoy your trip.
