Trip feedback? Europe

dnunez1492 has indicated that this thread is about Europe

Europe is a continent? Where?

Why train, when bus or flights would or could be cheaper?

A generality that could be given is the north western countries are more expensive than the southern are more expensive than the eastern and cities are more expensive than the rural.

If you have an itinerary of where you want to go check out what train tickets are available that could help you reach all your destinations. That will give you one of your major expenses. Then check out a couple of hostels in a variety of places - WomBatt has given you a pretty good idea of the range of living standards and costs above so do a selection based on that. That will help you get an idea of average price per night. Food will take up a surprising amount of your budget if you expect to eat out at least 2 out of 3 meals. You can make it cheaper if you locate supermarkets to supply yourself with most of what you will need.

You could join the YHA and get discounts through membership as well as take some of the effort out of locating hostels everywhere.

Tip - give more detail in your forum questions to get really good answers. Times of year, length of trip, chosen destinations, aim of your trip etc all help.

WomBatt, TravelMc – For your info the OP has included the details of their trip on the right hand side, complete with dates and locations. This feedback thread has been shared directly from the OP's .

dnunez1492 – So your dates indicate you're travelling for two months and it looks like you have some good destinations in mind. Saying that, however, I feel that spending just three days in some cities means there will be a lot of time on the road. Would you consider staying on the continent and dropping London to give you more time in each city?

WomBatt's tip about the north western countries certainly holds true – you have picked some expensive countries! I suggest having a look in the accommodation section (tab above) for a guide to hostel prices in your chosen cities. For example in April there are . Hope that helps you to work out a budget.

Good luck with your planning!

Good heads up - Thanks KellieBarnes.

You could catch a budget flight from Paris to London which may (only may) be cheaper than train though the Eurostar sometimes has really good deals.

O.K. - 'comfortable' is what I will not be in hostels at my age - €65 per day.
You need to look into advance purchase of discounted train tickets (or a pass if young enough to make it pay) and compare or both.
