Hi guys!
I am going on a round the world trip starting in January 2012: I will be landing in Buenos Aires and leaving from Santiago 5 months later, maybe slightly less, and I was wondering if you had any suggestions on how to make the most of it!
Mapping out a budget in advance is proving to be quite a challenge considering I have to take the rest of my RTW trip into account, I don't know if I'll be able to count on more than $700 or $800 per month.
"... I want to travel across Argentina, through Bolivia, across Peru, make it to Ecuador before going to Chile through Peru...."
My dos centavos... you're missing the best country in South America right now: Colombia. Some of the absolute best flora and fauna in the entire world along with spectacular geography, culture and wonderful locals who (especially if you get slightly off the beaten path) are incredibly welcoming to foreigners. Bogota is a seriously rockin' world class city too.

I guess you planned your trip very well... when you're over Peru give me a holler so I can give you a hand with finding a cheap and nice place to stay and probably set up a tour to the best places over here.
I'd love to visit Colombia as well, I just need to figure out how to fit it all in! I only have 4 to 5 months in South America, and I already know it isn't enough!
Terry: are you currently in Colombia? Is there anything you think I shouldn't miss? (aside from Bogota!)..and finally, would April-May be a good time to visit?
Globetrotter 123: same question, are you in Peru? What parts of Peru do you recommend? I have found a volunteering opportunity in Huancayo, and am about to confirm it but just need to figure out some dates first.. which would be, according to you, the best time to do so (I don't know if it will make a difference weather-wise but you'll know): February,March or April?
