Hi, I'll be flying from Sydney, Australia to Europe and solo travelling during December and possibly January. I have never solo travelled nor have I travelled around Europe so it would be good to know a couple of people along the way. Is any other young people (late teens to early/mid 20s) solo travelling Europe and possibly want to meet up or have any advice? I'm interested in possibly visiting England, France, Spain, Italy, Switzeland, Germany, Czech republic etc.
I'll be solo travelling (from Melbourne) through England and Scotland then but sadly I fall outside your preferred age range.
Take the usual precautions you would at home, keep your possessions close, always take note of your surroundings and act/walk with purpose. Make sure you have a padlock for your bag or that you can use should your hostel/accommodation have lockers. Take thongs for the shower.
Oh and I suggest slowing down your travel and spending longer in each city/town. It makes the experience much more enjoyable rather than having to constantly be navigating transport or—worse still—seeing nothing but the inside of a train/bus/plane!
