Hi all,
You can get discounted fares on both Austrian and German railroads. For example, the discounted SparSchiene fare from Salzburg to Innsbruck is 14 euros instead of the standard fare of 44.9 euros.
There are different fares from Innsbruck to Frankfurt, depending on the train. But generally you can get a discounted fare of 49 euros vs. the standard fare of 126 euros. A seat reservation costs 3 euros. German railways charges 59 euros for the same trip.
You can buy tickets online with your credit card. The Web site for Austrian railways is: http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp. The Web site for German railways is www.bahn.com. I've bought tickets before on both Web sites, including two tickets this week with OBB using my U.S. credit card. Hope this helps.
Thanks a million!! That's a huge help
Lots of english speaking like capitainetrain.com - seems it works perfectly fine for France/ maybe elsewhere.
