In need of a travel buddy

Hi

Just go.

Forget about finding a stranger on the Internet and simply go to an easy destination that is filled with nervous first timers like yourself so it's no problems to meet up with others in the very same situation.

Thailand is one of the easiest "foreign" low budget destination on the planet. It has hosted millions of backpackers over many decades so their tourist infrastructure is excellent. There are neighbourhoods in Bangkok that are almost exclusively filled with backpackers (Khao San Road) and entire islands to the south that are PACKED with foreigners.

With common sense it's safe... it has a very well worn backpacker trail... there are endless accommodation/eating/transport options... so with some normal research it's a fantastic way to get started and to learn how to travel.

Buy a guide book and start reading.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Hi Tara ! am travling to thailand end of this week i will stay there till end of month it will be nice to have company,Feel free to drop me an email if you want to join its me my friend and his girlfriend

Cheers!

I second what Terry said. Go solo and meet people along the way. I'm leaving on Tuesday for a solo trip and wouldn't even consider doing it any other way. More freedom and plenty of opportunities to meet other solo travelers!

Good luck.

Many thanks for all your help.
I'm really not keen to travel alone and would love to share the experience with someone for my first time. Once I have done it with someone there will be no stopping me going other places on my own.
I just have no idea what to expect so some company would be ace.
I'm looking to go end of this year beginning of next.
How much money am I to roughly save.

Cheers for replying

Figure out your daily cost (food, accommodation, transport etc) and go from there.

This guy has some good info on his

"... I'm really not keen to travel alone and would love to share the experience with someone for my first time..."

The only time you'll be alone is on the flight over. You don't understand that the backpacker tourist areas in Thailand are PACKED with first timers exactly the same as you.

Honestly, buy a guide book and start reading. This isn't anywhere nearly as difficult or intimidating as you think. Millions have done it before you, you're not breaking any new ground.

Have fun.

Cheers,
Terry

Hey Tara,

So I'm new to the website but I wanted to share my two bits. A little over a year ago I was in the same situation you are, to spare you the details my girlfriend and I split up. Long story short I found myself baffled and had no idea how to recover until a friend suggested I take a vacation. I had always dreamed of traveling the world and I figured with all the money I was saving from being single it was the perfect time. With little research and my wanderlust kicking in I made a sporadic purchase on a flight to Manila. While I may not have done as much homework as I would have liked, I will tell you it was by far the best thing I had ever done with my life. My trip was short, only 3 weeks but I don't regret it. I hopped countries and took in as much as possible. From the moment I stepped foot in the airport I made friends which I still talk to on the regular basis. You will find that solo travel doesnt last long as you will meet plenty of people along the way. I promise you once you make the leap you will never regret it. Do you have any ideas on where you want to go and when? BTW if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hey Tara

I will be heading over to OZ solo July 17th on a WHV.
