I applied for my WHV last year and had the same worry, but when I went to apply I actually didn't need to provide any proof! I'm not sure if that's changed so sorry if that's not much help - enjoy, you'll have an amazing time!
Hey there! The $$ requirement, at least as of last year, is only applied upon arrival. I wasn't asked to prove anything, but I was ready to show that I had the required sum (print out of bank statement) if asked. Most people say they didn't get asked (I didn't), but for sure you don't want to get turned away upon arrival!
