I cannot help with your specific question but I was in Myanmar recently as I am not female & did not backpack but I did not feel unsafe at any point. If you would like to see a bit of what life looks like there, I have started writing about my trip on my TP blogo - There is one later entry so far and I will be adding lots more. I am sure you will enjoy being there as much as I did.
Learn the magic word 'Mingalaba'. You will hear it all day every day & I think it means hello or welcome but could well mean 'Smile for me'.

I am female and travelled Myanmar solo for 2 weeks last April.
The truth is i was never solo. My route was Hpa-An, Yangon, Bagan and the Kalaw-Inle Lake Trek. In all those places you can find hostels with dorms, where you will easily meet other travellers to take the journey with if you wish. I found the local people extremely friendly and helpful too, even if sometimes their english is non-existent or hardly understandable. So don't worry about that!

i think ur be fine in myanmar traveling solo. take take a "standard" taking care of urself like u do if ur in other places. myanmar is typically laidback. lots of tourists too so u will meet people like urself. enjoy ur trip!

Although I didn't travel alone, I did meet a lot of amazing people on the road and even connected with a few. If you choose to spend your nights at a hostel, you'll have an even better chance at finding people with similar itineraries. And if not, you could always try searching for local meetings and join them, couchsurfing.com will help you with that one.
