Sixt Insurance Claim Dispute

sharmavs has indicated that this thread is about Austria

What do you want people to tell you?

You rented a car and declined the insurance coverage. You accepted responsibility for the damage on return and presumably signed something that indicated that acceptance. Now they are sending you a bill for repairing the damage. You don't like the amount they are billing you for.

Those are the facts and the only possible advice would be that if you don't want to pay the bill then you will need to hire a lawyer and go to court to argue a case. That presumes a lawyer tells you they believe they can make an argument to reduce it. Of course by the time you do that, you will probably end up spending more than 3000E anyway.

You appear to be suggesting that you are considering an alternative of not paying at all depending on what the potential consequences of that would be.

Well, first there is the moral question associated with that decision. You say you accept responsibility. So if you pay nothing, you are not meeting that responsibility. Not liking how much they are billing you does not mean you are no longer responsible. So are you willing to ignore the morality of that?

My advice is pay the bill or hire a lawyer. Those are the only 2 moral choices you have.

This is a perfect example of why not paying for insurance can come back and bite you in the butt and there is a lesson to be learned here.

Hi sharmavs, check your travel insurance. It might have a clause to cover rental car damage as well. Usually that is my preferred way of insuring rental cars as the rental car companies are extortionists when it comes to insurance.
