Hi All,
I have looked at hostel reviews for hostels in both Peru and Lima. While I find them helpful,
I was wondering if any of you have any "unusually good" or "unusually bad" experiences with hostels in the following cities:
I actually ended up staying at Loreto (it is on that list you posted). It's not really a conventional hostel. All the rooms are private rooms but it was amazingly well-located (bang on the plaza) and the rooms were incredibly comfortable. Olga (the girls who works there) is a total sweetheart. I am surprised she didn't run away after we troubled her with our endless list of dumb questions and favors.
Sorry pranavc. I hate to see a question hang out there for all that time, and I am glad you found something. I've been to Bogota many times...But I am well past the hostel age.
I hope you enjoyed Colombia....Probably rained in Bogota, wot?
had a blast in Bogota...gorgeous weather throughout. I guess this is a year-old thread. Someone did resurrect it and then deleted their post.
I stayed at the "Cranky Croc" in Bogota. Really impressed with that hostel. Really pleasant atmosphere, cool staff, the party bus was a LOT of fun, too. The chef could knock up a hangover-killing steak and burgers, and the barbeque was pretty good too. Good communal rooms, comfy beds and nice facilities. My only gripe is that La Candelaria, the area it's in, can be a bit rough at nights. I must admit I didn't like leaving the hostel after dark by myself, but even then I didn't get harrassed or robbed or anything.
In Cuzco I stayed in the HI hostel. Bit of a mistake, it was quite dead. Nice enough hostel, but not much happening there. I hear Loki hostels are the ones you want Peru and Bolivia.
