Hi,
I found out that some links to smaller cities and towns, although existing, were totally empty! They weren't labeled as 'empty articles' though, but had a clear link. Almost always they were places with other letters than usual, like the towns in Slovakia or Sweden (Vasteras).
Is that (the letters) the cause of it?
Cheers!
Michael.
Oops, just noticed this thread. Are you referring to links to articles like - it's got a template, but no content?
No, really empty articles. They had a link (mouse over it didn't say they article didn't exist) but were completely blank. I did apply a template for some of them, but I guess there are more. I have to look up a few things maybe to give an example.
A bit late but I think I have come across an answer why this happens.
I was creating the page for , when I had already put Gijon in between brackets. (As it is likely a candidate to create a page for this city soon.) But I noticed that Gijon should be written as Gijón. When I corrected the o to ó, the link became orange (or purple now as I was curious if there was already a page for Gijón.), indicating that there should be a page. But all I got is the empty, that Michael saw in other pages as well.
little bug?

LOL, just noticed this in the article indeed.
Didn't check this thread first though
Hey guys, good news.. I've found the problem to this stupid bug. In our database's view Gijon and Gijón are the same thing. But in our application server's view they're different.
I think it's better to treat them as the same, since it would be really awkward to have the possibility for both a Gijon and a Gijón article. I'll work on a fix for it tomorrow - got most of the way there today, but need to test to make sure I'm not introducing some other bug by fixing it Will be a good riddance!
Does this also works for Málaga and Malaga?
I found that Malaga was linked, but it was shown in grey a couple of times.

Yep, that will be the same problem. Any of these links with strange characters where it was first written one way and then changed later have the same problem.
Ok guys, I've got the fix up. It's touching on LOTS of bits of functionality to achieve the fix actually. In the end I have had to make it so that the characters á and a are treated separately. So http://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/San_Sebastian/ is not the same as http://www.travellerspoint.com/guide/San_Sebastián/ !!
Nor is "/guide/spain/" the same as "/guide/Spain/" any more.
In other words, although I've fixed the bug, I've also in the process had to restrict the linking of titles much more to make it work. There are likely to be quite a few broken links as a result.
If you find an article like the San Sebastian one that was under the incorrect spelling, what you should do is use the "Change Title" link at the bottom of the article to update it. And be sure to leave the option ticked to redirect the old title. That will ensure that articles like still take you to the right place at least!
Also, a final note. Although this fix is up, links may still show incorrectly until the article has been edited. It should clear up as soon as you make an edit though.
Phew, tough one this was..
