13D Europe Tour

Hi,

Try
Will you still be under the age of 26 next January? If so, you would qualify for a which would get you a good discount.

All three Italian cities which you mentioned are all well worth visiting and it's difficult to know which one to recommend. My own personal favourite would be Venice which even in the depths of winter is a truly magical and enchanting place.

I would get the interrail ticket for Switzerland and regular point-to-point tickets in Italy. Railpasses are a waste of money in Italy because train tickets in Italy are very cheap. Venice-Rome via Florence is only 46 EUR with regional trains if you buy the ticket in Switzerland.

Plan your trip out, get a flight that goes to Switzerland (or Friedrichshafen if you are flying Ryanair) and a flight that goes from Rome to the Uk. www.skyscanner.net can help you.

BTW, Rail Europe sucks. Their prices are totally inflated, because their system only searches among a selection of fast and expensive trains and they charge a commission for the ticket. Go to www.jizdenka.cz to get more accurate prices.

Also note that you can go skiing in Italy too. The Dolomites are excellent for skiing and with the expensive prices in Switzerland probably cheaper too.

Thank you for your help. I still confuse with the pass over there..

Recently my plan is like this :

Plan A : Swiss - Italy
Zurich - Lucerne by train
Lucerne - St Moritz by train
St Moritz - Zermatt by glacier Express ( I need to buy a spread ticket for this, if i got swiss pass?)

Zermatt - Venice by train
Vernice - Pisa by train
Pisa - Rome by train

PLAN B :
Geneva - Montreux by train
Montreux - Interlaken or Lucerne (What mean is paranomic Golden Pass?) This journey need to pay extra $ for ticket?
Interlaken or Lucerne - Zermatt (by Glacier Express)

Zermatt - Venice
Venice - Pisa
Pisa - Rome

Please give me suggestion what type of ticket i should choose and any night train can take to save the hostel $ ?
and What's the price for skiing and hostel for twin sharing. We r couple. Thanks

Please Advise. I was headache about this. Or any others better plan for me? I from UK and after this trip wanna back to Malaysia.

Thanks !

Plan A:

St Moritz - Zermatt by glacier Express ( I need to buy a spread ticket for this, if i got swiss pass?)

For the Glacier Express you must reserve seats in advance and you should reserve seats for the whole journey from St. Moritz to Zermatt. You have to pay extra for the seat reservation. SwissPass rail passes are valid on this train.

InterRail & Eurail passes cover the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) between Disentis and Chur, but not the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGB) between Zermatt & Disentis, so a separate ticket is needed for this section, in addition to the Glacier Express supplement. This extra ticket costs about CHF 80 - you can check this price at www.sbb.ch, just ask for the 2nd class fare from Zermatt to Disentis. You can buy this at any Swiss station before you travel, along with your Glacier Express supplement/reservation.

Note that you can also use cheaper local trains and get the same view.

Plan B:

(What mean is paranomic Golden Pass?) This journey need to pay extra $ for ticket?

GoldenPass is the name of a train that goes from Zürich - Luzern - Interlaken - Montreux to Genf. The word "panoramic" refers to the panorama wagon that is available to 1st class passengers on this train. Eurail and SwissPass rail passes are valid on this train, don't know about Interrail.

http://www.goldenpass.ch/default.asp?Language=EN

Zermatt -Venice by train
Vernice - Pisa by train
Pisa - Rome by train

Buy 2 tickets in Zermatt:

- one to Venice
- one from Venice via Pisa to Rome with regional trains

International ticket with regional trains is the cheapest way to travel in Italy.

For Switzerland check prices using

http://www.glacierexpress.ch/
http://www.goldenpass.ch/

http://www.sbb.ch/

and add everything together. Compare with the price of the Swiss Flexi Pass. The Swiss FlexiPass for 3 days is CHF 249.00 CHF per person, if you buy 2 passes you get a discount. It will then cost you 211.65 CHF per person.

Since you are using the Glacier Express both in Plan A and in Plan B it will likely be cheaper to use the Swiss FlexiPass than to buy a Eurail or Interrail pass.

Thank you t-maia, take noted.

So Swiss Flexi Pass is most suitable for this trip instand of swiss pass right?
(4D swiss pass is it mean need travel continuous for 4days?) and (Swiss Flexi pass is choose of 3Days of a mth?) (What mean for swiss half fare card?) ...

Is that any night train i need to use for this trip? or i should plan for nite train trip instand to this 2 country to others country?

For Swiss Pass is only valid in Switzerland right?
If i prefer to go others country as well so i need to choose of Eurorail Pass?

do you know the price for skiing in mountain matterhorn and Mt Titls ? I need folo package or go for myself is cheaper than ?

any recommend hotel ?

Thanks

Regarding the ticket from Venice - Pisa - Rome, Can i stop at Pisa for some view and than take the train continue to rome?

What happened to your trip. Im planning to arrive in Geneva in March 22 until the 25th. I would also like to see Lucerne and if possible Zurich. With the Swiss Flexi Pass, do I need to reserve a seat all the time?
