MacBook fits in typical hotel safe. MacBook Pro doesn't.

The MacBook is probably a better value, and a better choice over all.

I'm sorry, but does this thread have a point I just missed or is it really just random info as it seems to me?

You don't travel with a laptop?

No i don't, but my point is that threads usually involve some kind of question and/or information. This thread doesn't seem to have either...

Angela, I guess I'd better learn your interests from other 1600+ posts so my next topic is more interesting to you personally. Are they as insightful as the ones you're contributing to this thread?

Laptops are essential travel gear for those of us who work on the road.

I'm really sorry if I offended you. It wasn't my intention...

The MacBook is probably a better value, and a better choice over all.

I expect my laptop will get stolen at some point (as my colleague's has) so all my important files are on my iDrive.

One thing I haven't done is protect all the information that's on it from identity theft.

What is your question? How to protect your information or lamenting about your possible future loss?

At a minimum password protect your laptop. It won't slow down a professional too much but it is a start. Consider signing on to Carbonite or something similar. I think Carbonite is around $55 a year.

Maybe only keep business stuff on one laptop and your personal stuff on a different computer that you don't travel with.

i assumed michael was just informing people, giving advice about the mac computers and security when on holiday. it doesnt apply to me but thanks for sharing, i am finding more and more from travelling it saves a lot of hassle if someone has been through something-and shared-first.
