We only have 10 days in Egypt, leaving mid-May with our two children. We want to spend only a day in Cairo and then take the overnight train to Luxor and somehow end up in Sharm-el-Sheikh to get the plane home.... anyone think this is possible and anything we should absolutely see with the kids in that very short space of time? We ar concerned about costs and loads of time spent travelling.....
Well you can definately do that trip without heading to Sharm. If you want to head there then you can either fly to Sharm which will be fast but expensive or you can travel overland to Hurgada and take the ferry over to Sinai. Not sure how long it is or how much it costs, but those are your options. I am sure someone has done that and has a better idea than i do. I traveled from Dahab to Sharm then bus to Cario. Long and uncomfortable!
