Montezuma is awesome! I'm not sure about board hire, but I deem it highly unlikely they wouldn't have it. I was there in 2002/2003 and it was already a pretty popular destination, something I'm sure hasn't changed. Someone there has surely come up with the idea to rent out boards (we didn't, but it probably already existed back then as well).
Yeah I'm going there for a wedding, so I won't be there for a long enough time to purchase a cheap one or something. I'm really hoping I can hit it up though I surfed in Australia a few years ago and I miss it so much! Do you know if surf shops work the same way as ski/board shop where you can rent boards for the day/by hour and go off and ride on your own? I thought thats how some places worked but in Byron Bay the surf school guys were kind of jerks and said they don't do that.
According to , hiring boogie boards is easy and there are plenty of places to do so. I can't imagine surfboards would be any different?! There's also the option of a 3-hour surf trip for 40$ according to , but that's more likely to be the kind of outfit that won't rent out just the boards. Either way, I think you shouldn't have any problems with this, but please report back as finding information on this online is clearly a pain!!
