I prefer to do an adventure to Vietnam.
Please suggest me whether should I choose Cao Son or Sapa.
Some of my friend recommended Cao Son - Vietnam as it is not touristic. Is it true?
most of the cities are very touristy...but moreso backpackers. you can also try da lat, but sappa is absolutely gorgeous.
I really enjoyed Sapa while we were there. Sure there are tourists, but we did some treks through the local villages and once you got out of the town we didn't notice as many other tourists as back in Sapa. I'm not too familiar with Cao Son, so can't give any comparison between the two, but I think you can still find places in and near Sapa that aren't too overrun with tourists.

You shouldn't worry about any area being too touristic in Vietnam - all you do is to venture out a little further in any town and you leave the tourist trail behind. Even in Hanoi and Saigon this is true. Sapa is probably the most beautiful single location I've seen in all of Vietnam. You need to just go and explore for yourself - then come back and report your trip here (and keep a blog of your travels). Don't forget the Central Highlands - I was in Dalat as well as Sapa recently and both are great mountain escapes and are totally different. The Central Highlands are great because this is the heart of the agriculture region (coffee, flowers, fruit orchards and even wine). The market in Dalat is a fantastic resource for these products - excellent quality too. Dalat is a former French resort and you will find excellent baked goods here - a real gem.

The choice is up to your activities .
If you really want a complex tours( explore culture and ethnic minority, conquer Fansipan mountain...) and the condition is quite good. You should choose Sapa-Where is really one of the most attracting tourists in Viet Nam.
If you really want to explore by yourseft and the natural environment, not touristic, you should choose Cao Son – the land being lost in sleep.

Sapa is an amazing destination, though it is very touristy. Some people also struggle with the persistence of the local hill tribe sellers, with hordes of girls following you up the street. But it does have a lot of charm, and the surrounding area is fantastic.
As Daawgon said, venture out of town and you can escape the crowds. If you decide to do a trek to the villages, my recommendation is to get a little bit further out of Sapa, start with a jeep ride down the valley. Whilst you won't be the only tourist in the village it does seem a much more genuine experience.
If I was going to the area again, I would definitely go somewhere like Cao Son, a little more adventurous and genuine. And again, don't forget the Central Highlands. Whilst i haven't been to Dalat, our tour through the more Northern sections of the central highlands was fantastic and gave a real insight into modern Vietnamese rural life.
yes, I also think you should go to sapa, infact sapa is more touristic than Cao Son, as other said but Sapa is must see place in Vietnam, besides Halong Bay.
