Full moon party accomodation

i arrive in koh phangan on the 28th and havent sorted any accomodation.
anyone know of some where on or close to haad rin beach thats fairly reasonalble???

You have to book well in advance if you want a bed at full moon, and you probably have to stay a whole week if you select the full moon around new years eve (or pay at least for a full week). That is at least what they say on their websites ... Note that thge distances are considerable, so think twice before you book at a different place. The road from harbor town Thong Sala is very hilly, so be careful with motorcycles.

Another question is whether you really need a bed. You are likely to party the whole night. And the typical full moon party visitor does not care about sleeping at all.

I have been twice at Haad Rin in 2005 and 2010, but missed the FMP on both occasions for planning reasons. I am not sure whether I missed much. The present commercial event allegedly is just a vague reminiscent of the original event. Gettting as drunk as possible on a tropical beach in the night (and possibly get injured by glass fragments) may not be as nice as it seems.

Koh Pha Ngan island is not (yet)as bad as nearby Samui, but it is definitely "torremolinizing" (= adapting itself so strong to tourists that if looses its Thai character).

Brady, check out the resorts at ban kai.

You need to take the taxi to get to and from the hatrin party.
Wouldn't be any hassle if you're prepared to pay a little extra to get back before sunrise.

It is the best bet (and possibly value) arriving so close to new year.

There's a line of affordable resorts just after the ban tai village.

Get off the taxi at the airport bar and turn left from the main road,
follow that road until you hit the beach.

BAAN NAMKHEM (12) or MOON FLOWER (15) are best value.
