Hey, there's proberly a really simple answer to this, but how do you go about getting an IRD number in New Zealand.
You will need to contact the IRD - try www.ird.govt.nz . We don't have emergency IRD numbers here, you needed to have had one when you started working. I am not sure how long the process takes to get one.
Your employer is correct in not being able to pay you until they have one.
