Eurotrip in 30 days, where to go?

I plan on travelling for about 30 days with my friends and we are trying to plan a route, but it is actually a bit harder to plan than I thought it would be. Can someone give me some 'beginner's insight' in this subject?
We plan on starting in Spain, then taking the train to the other places. Do we book hostels now or only when it is closer to the time of the trip (we plan on going by the end of June).

In June, things start to get very busy so decide where you want to go and book accommodation and maybe travel. Hostels are not always the cheapest accommodation though they are often the poorest. Companies like lowcostholidays, travelrepublic, hotelscombined and such do cheap stays.

Where you go depends on what you want to see. Do not try and fit too much in or you will end up travelling all the time. There are fast trains, but also cheap flights in some places.

Tourists to Spain often visit: Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, Cordoba and Ronda amongst other places. Also Gibraltar.

From Spain you could get a cheapish flight to France, UK, Italy or a number of other places in Europe (west and east). 30 days does sound a lot but you could spend it in any of those countries, or in Spain alone.

What you "can't miss" will depend on who you ask. We all have our favourites for various reasons.
