Be prepared to ship your bike (and yourself) from Panama to Colombia due to the Darien Gap. I recommend researching the various cargo companies in advance so you can adjust your finances to include those costs and incorporate the shipping time into your schedule. The most commonly used shipping route is Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia.
Through the Darien Gap here are no roads, it's dense jungle and the Colombian FARC guerillas are not keen on anyone stumbling upon their encampments.
