Solo Scotsman travelling to NZ

Hey fellow travellers, just putting out the feelers to see who might be in New Zealand around apr 2011. Heading out on a whv and hoping to emulate my 08 oz trip. Lots of fun and adventure seeking with plenty of banter and stories to tell, looking for travel buddies to share the experiences

Hey I plan to be in Auckland in May 2011. Do u have a WHV? i plan to work a while in auckland then travel around.

Hi, i plan to travel alone to Auckland around May2011 on a WHV. im alsoplanning on working for a while to save some extra pennies before travelling around the rest of the country and then heading over to Fiji to experience the paradise! what are you plans for accomodation? are you all going alone??

Hi all,

I'm from the US and I'm also traveling to New Zealand on a WHV. I'll be flying over the week of May 9th. I'm flying into Auckland but aside from a few leads and ideas on some jobs and a loose idea of where I want to go, I'm totally open. No plans set in stone! I plan to travel the whole country, working along the way.

I'm coming over alone and would love to meet up with fellow travelers, maybe gain some travel buddies (perhaps share a car rental, etc.), hang out for a few days, or just meet for a drink and hear your stories!

Gavin - I worked abroad in Scotland several years ago, it's one of my favorite places! Where in Scotland are you from?

Carrie

Hey, everyone seems to be flying into to Auckland lol.

Would be well up for a campervan share if anyone had thoughts about doing that. Heard its the best and most economic way to see the country in all its glory.

Carrie, i stay in Central Scotland, right between Edinburgh and Glasgow, how much of Scotland did you get to see when you were here?

Gav

Gavin - I spent a summer working in Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival. Absolutely amazing. I've been back at least 5 or 6 times; came over for Hogmanay one year. I traveled most of the country and I tell everyone they have to get to the Highlands at least once! I'm excited as it seems New Zealand also has that amazing scenery!

I've also heard a campervan is the way to go and would be interested in splitting costs with people.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what they'll do in their first weeks there? I can't decide if I want to travel a bit and then settle in a place for a bit with work or if I should look for work right away? I'm favoring doing a little exploring at first to get a feel for the place.

Nice 1, you may have seen more of Scotland than i have. But yeah, the Highlands are pretty similar to the New Zealand landscape.

Yeah i'd be well up for splitting costs and having someone to share in the adventures.

Personally i'm finding my feet the first week or 2 then absolutely travelling around, seeing the sights and getting a feel for where i might want to settle for a longer period for work and such, i'd hate to find a job in a place that just didn't suit me.

Glad you've experienced a Scottish New Year celebration
