Hi There
"Visa Troubles "
It is not really trouble if you have the time and money; a visa is just a formality that some countries require.
With a UK passport you need sufficient time left on it to see you through the last country on your list and maybe 6 months more.
You should be able to just show up with passport and enter for free (plus sufficient funds to see you through your holiday) in the following countries: Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong. Being from the UK I don't think you will have a problem with Oz or NZ.
Don't take my word for it, a simple Google check will give you more info on visas. China might be the toughest one.
Good Luck.
'Karazyal' covered most of the countries where you will get a visa on arrival. Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Fiji, OZ, NZ will give you a free visa on arrival. Cambodia & Laos will sell you a visa on arrival.
VN & China are the exception. You must buy your visa before hitting their borders. If flying into VN, you can use their visa on arrival system. Easy & cheaper than buying it in your home country. covers my my experience flying into SGN. You have the choice of buying your Chinese visa before you leave the UK or buying it in Fiji. You need to do a bit a checking to see what is your better option.
Good luck with your planning.

Always pluggin that old out dated blog of yours. Oz you need a visa before you arrive, but you can get it online for free.
The easy way to apply for China visa is go to Hong Kong. You can go to Hong Kong without application of visa in advance. If you want to vist mainland China, apply a double-entry visa or multiple-entry visa.

For Australia, everyone except Australian citizens require a visa to enter the country. Generally, NZ citizens automatically receive this on entry - but no one else does.
For British citizens, you need to apply for an if you're going to be a tourist for up to 3 months at a time in Australia. The eVisitor lasts for 12 months.

They don't receive anything as they have a visa waiver agreement with OZ

That isn't true - New Zealanders who do not hold a permanent residency visa to Australia a Special Category Visa (subclass 444). The SCV is granted on arrival.

Sorry but you are confusing working in Oz and visiting. As a tourist, Kiwi's have a visa waiver with Australia. Talking about work visa's is an entirely different thing.

It doesn't matter whether the intention of the person with a NZ passport is to , at point of entry they are issued with an SCV. The SCV covers New Zealanders who are visitors (e.g. tourists) and those intending on living in Australia. It's an for most NZ passport holders.
The SCV is largely a workaround to satisfy the 1973 Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement after changes in 1994 to the Migration Act 1958 which meant that all non-Australian citizens had to hold a visa to be legally in Australia. Yes, Kiwis only need to turn up with a valid NZ passport to enter Australia (except those with either behaviour or health "concerns") - however an SCV is granted upon entry no matter the reason for being in Australia.
This has taken the thread well off-topic now, so let's leave it here.
