Flights from Pittsburgh (U.S.) to Vietnam

Hi all:
I'll be flying from Pittsburgh to Vietnam with the following itinerary:

You'll clear customs in Newark. (P.S. You don't have a choice of doing so anywhere else).

The time is definitely tight, but if your flight is on time and in the same terminal, you'll be okay as long as you aren't doing this doing a peak travel period (like July 4th or over the Thanksgiving or Christmas holidays) If you want to do it then, you'll need more time.

Yes, you'll need to reclear your bags at Newark, just like on the inbound flight.

If it were me, I'd get an earlier flight from Pittsburgh to Newark (like a 6 AM flight). Then I wouldn't worry about making my connection to Tokyo.

Enjoy

Why would he be clearing customs and immigration at all leaving the US?
