Moving Abroad Tips for Families

Since you are from an English-speaking country, you and your spouse could get jobs teaching English. There are English teaching jobs all over the world (except within the E.U., where it is difficult to get a working visa). Most teaching jobs, though, are in East Asia: China, South Korea, Taiwan and Japan especially. If you move to either China or Korea (I've lived in both), I'd recommend either home schooling or an international school (if you can afford it- they are VERY expensive!) Your 12 year old is too old to start in a Chinese school, unfortunately. The language barrier- not spoken, but written- would make it impossible for him or her to catch up. Not to mention, as a foreign kid, he'd probably get picked on. A lot. Still, Asia would be an interesting experience for them, and they would probably pick up the spoken language easily.
