Recommendations for Granada and Sevilla?

Take a bus from Granada to the little town of Alhama de Granada about an hour away.

Very traditional the town has a magnificent Gorge - IMO far more impressive than the one at Ronda and without the crowds! It is a photographers dream. See www.alsa.es for bus timetable.

If you visit the Albaycin district when in Granada keep a very tight hold on your wallet and never accept flowers off anyone - the Albaycin is the pickpockets capital of Andalucia.

I assume that you have already booked tickets for the Alhambra but, if not, you need to do so a.s.a.p. to guarantee entry on the day you require. www.alhambra-tickets.es Remember that the Carlos V Museum part of the Alhambra is closed on Mondays; also remember that you HAVE to be at the entrance to the Nasrid Palace at the time printed on your Alhambra ticket or you will be refused entry.

As you have already visited Seville - and therefore must have already seen its main places of interest - I would suggest that you take a bus trip from there to the lovely Mediaeval town of Carmona about 25 km/1 hour away. Again a gem of a place for a photographer. The city of Cordoba would be a fascinating substitute for Seville.

For the better Tapas in Granada stay away from the touristy stuff around the main square and at the bottom of the Albaycin and go to the small squares behind the top of the Albaycin. There are also some good views back across town towards the Alhambra from up there.

Unfortunately there's only one day of the week that there's a bus back to Granada more than two hours after the first bus from Granada arrives (and so really only one day of the week that it's worth doing this as a daytrip). Quite a shame, as this sounded like a town I would've loved to see.

Still, thanks for this (and the other) suggestions! Gives me something to plan for the next time I'll visit (once the lion's courtyard at the Alhambra has been fully restored maybe).
