Wow that's amazing that you are going all the way to Australia by boat! I'd be pretty sure that on a long journey like that you are bound to meet some of your fellow passengers.

Seriously if you are traveling alone, a great way to meet people and not just other travelers, but the real locals, is by staying at places here, go check out some of the really cool places you can stay at. Its a great way to cut your costs in Australia too. Check out some of the other users profiles to get an idea of what to put in your own. The better your profile the more chance you have of people offering you a place to stay. Some of the prime locations can be pretty busy.

Hi Orla, fair dues to you for going alone, i was going alone too until my friend said she'd join me!! you'll find plenty of people along the way!! We haven't booked our tickets yet, but it'll be anywhere from the start of march to the start of April. We plan on stopping in Thailand for 3-4 weeks, maybe head up north the do some island hopping. I would like to see some of the non touristy areas too! we then fly to Perth and go from there. I want to get my 3 months regional work done asap, so hopefully will get something in WA. I would like to go from Perth to Broome, and do Ayers rock, Alice springs, Darwin etc. After that i haven't made a plan. Obviously these plans could change when i get there, and when i meet new people, but at the moment that's what im thinking.

I am flying into Melbourne (have a friend living there). Plan to stay there for a week and then move up the east coast. I am gonna try get some of my fruit picking out of the way. Was also thinking about going to Tazmania for a little while. What your plans for when you get there???
