How many days are you planning for?
I would recommend Thailand as you get to experience more of the Asian cultures. Food and Accomodation is cheap too. You get friendly people around and i heard most of the people there can speak english, so you dont have to worry about the language barrier. If you like beaches, you can go to Phuket or Krabi. Koh Samui is good but the beach is too rocky for swim.
You can also travel to Singapore and Malaysia since these 3 countries are near to each other and that is easy to explore.
Burma, Laos, China and Phillippines are nice countries with interesting cultures too, but it might be difficult for first timer in Asia.

Wow I'm super late to reply on this thread, sorry guys. I've been procrastinating hardcore, but at least I'm getting my passport and credit card for my future travels. Thanks for the great reply, Pauline. Why would you say that some of the countries I listed would might be too difficult to travel for a first timer in Asia? Which countries would you you recommend for me to travel in Asia? Can anyone else elaborate on my questions in this post?
