Backpacking SA

Hey there,

In your place I would pick up a few Lonely Planet guides and spend some time with them.

I'm not into walking so did not find much in Chile. Santiago has a number of museums and art galleries, as well as markets and a subway system that goes right out of the city to an out of town Mall. It's worth taking just for the ride, much of which is above ground.

Near the railway station is a small bus station and an hour away is Valparaiso which I spent some hours walking around.

From Buenos Aries, I took a short hop by plane to Montevideo.

Your main safety concern in SA is petty theft, though if you've been to Peru you probably know about that.
