My husband and I will be travelling to London on 1 January 2012 and want to stay in London for about a week before heading off on a cruise. We haven't been to London before so will be out and about as much as possible, so we only want somewhere well located, clean and cheap (as possible as 'cheap' can be in London). We have been told that Travelodge offer good budget accommodation, particularly when booking in advance. Can anyone give any feedback on Travelodge properties that might suit what we are after?
The only problem with Travelodges is that they are rather sterile and characterless; however, they are normally clean and can be good value. There are several Travelodges in London - the Covent Garden and Tower Bridge properties would be good, central options.
Yes Travelodge can be pretty good value although it depends on the actual location in London. One place I've been looking at for a trip next year is base2stay at "Kensington" aka Earls Court.
Travelodge is a good value for money by London standards.
You can also try for lower prices Tune hotel, but do read what's included exactly,as it operates similarly to low coast airlines...
I'd also look at Ibis. Similar prices, slightly better facilities and often well located.
I stayed at the Ibis Euston recently.
Public transport into London is not cheap, so staying further out in the suburbs is probably not a saving.
