23 Year old, Traveling alone. OZ/NZ. Hiring a car in OZ from Sydney, down to Canberra, to Lake entrances, Melbourne, to Adelaide and back to Sydney for New Year. 5th Jan heading to Auckland and on the KIWI Experience down through New Zealand. Anyone doing the same or similar... Hopefully flying back to Melbourne from Christchurch to do some work, maybe buy a car/camper and work and travel doing farmwork or whatever is around at the time. Anyone any tips or advice on anything?
It seems like more than half of the people going to Australia (on any travel forum) are going there in the hope of finding unskilled work. There is little about and any you find will be hard and poorly paid and not wanted by Australians themselves. Don't count on it.
New Year accommodation fills up quickly in Australia so book something as soon as you have your plans settled. Sydney is very expensive that time of year (possibly you have seen their fireworks on TV at midnight?)
Tasmania is only a short hop on an airplane from Melbourne.
