I'm John Clark from Texas. I've been entertaining the idea of hiking the grand canyon before the year is up. I was thinking more like 2 or 3 nights though. Do you have more time? and are you hanging out in the states for a while? I'd be interested in seeing if anything could work out.

Hey JOhn,
nice to hear from you. Unfortunately I have already scheduled the whole vacation, so I have almost no flexibility. Anyway, I'd be very happy to meet you on Saturday 24th, that day I have planned a hike down to the river by the South kaibab trail and up the Birght angel trail, on the same day. A tough but rewarding hike of about 8 hours I guess.
Then, Sunday 25 I'll sleep at north rim campground so maybe we can hike some short hikes around there. I heard the north rim is wilder but sometimes even more beautiful than the south rim.
Finally, I'll head to PAge and southern Utah for some more days around Zion and Bryce Canyon area, then back in California.
I have my own rental car, so if you want to join me for 2, 3 or more days, just let me know, that would be great anyway!

PS. Sorry for the awful english I'm showing but I'm writing in a real hurry while working!!

I'm afraid your itinerary is too tight to hike down the canyon to the Colorado river, you'll need at least 2 days for this trip...
