This rather depends on if you merely lost your "proof" of insurance, or if you lost the insurance itself (that is, aren't covered by insurance anymore). I'll hopefully assume it's the former.
Immigration officials never ask about this. The requirement for your visa isn't "have proof of insurance", but simply "hold insurance", so you'll be fine at the airport. It might be a bother if you ever need to visit a doctor, though, so I'd try asking someone at home to get a hold of this and email you a copy to print out or something

(Of course, if you somehow aren't covered by insurance anymore, you're technically not allowed to enter Australia, as it's one of the requirements for the visa - and you really could incur major costs if you ever have any medical problems. In that case, make obtaining new travel insurance a priority.)

I agree with Sander. If you've lost your insurance documents then you need to contact them (the insurer) explain and ask for replacement documents. If you did it online it's even easier.
