I don't know if this has been posted or not but the Thai tourist visa fee exemption has been extended from May 11 2010 to March 21 2011. I saw this information on the Chicago Thai Consulate's website. It's listed in the headline news section at the top of the page.
Thanks for posting this. I knew it had been approved, but was told the new extension needed a signature to become law. I tried to verify this on the LA Thai Consulate website, but it is all in Thai. Hit the 'english' option and it is still in Thai. Not very user friendly at the moment.
With all the bad publicity Thailand is having, a free tourist visa might help increase visitation. Or not. Until they get the protesters out of the streets and off the news, some visitors are going to be reluctant to fly into BKK.

I agree Vegasmike. Let's hope that Abhisit's peace plan encourages some fruitful dialogue from both sides. I leave for Bangkok on May 21st. While the free tourist visa offer is tempting, I have decided to get my 60 day visa right now. I don't want to wait till May 11 and then possibly deal with delays which might make me miss my flight on the 21st.
