Wow! This is a complicated one...
Let me begin with a little disclaimer: I'm not absolutely sure that I know the answer to this one.
To begin with, you should of course have made sure that your US visa would still be valid upon returning from your trip to Germany. Since you didn't, I'm not sure whether that will impress the Germans enough to grant you an extension of your Schengen visa, pending completion of the US visa renewal procedure. However, extensions to C-type visa are granted selectively, and being from India doesn't exactly help to obtain one.
I guess you should turn to the Auswärtiges Amt to find out, preferably with some explanatory letter signed by a US consulate official. So here's the suggested course of action: turn to the US authorities, ask them how to proceed, obtain some formal response from them that you can use to plead your case with the German authorities, then contact the Auswärtiges Amt at .
I have a horrible feeling that this whole situation might turn very nasty, and might force you in the end to return to India first, only to re-enter the US from there... best act quickly. The whole France - thing seems somewhat irrelevant to me.
