Hi all. Me and my friend are going away for a year on October 5th. We are going to Thailand first for a month then to Australia roughly around November 5th. I wanted to know how long does it usually take for visas to come through once they have been applied for online? Also, Once the visas arrive do they start once we receive them or when we get into Australia? I didnt want to get them in a months time for example and realise when we get there in November we only have 7 months left on the visa! Any help will be much appreciated. Lee.

Usually they're approved within the hour. Occasionally it takes a day, very rarely (during peak times, when there's system maintenance or perhaps if you're selected for manual checking) up to a week.
Also, Once the visas arrive do they start once we receive them or when we get into Australia?
They start when you enter Australia, which can be up to 1 year after they've been granted.

Hello Lee,
the WHV's are digital, and they will be attached to your passport number. So if/when you are granted all you need to do is give the passport control your passport and they will just check the system.
I will be printing out my confirmation anyway just in case.
