Tattoos in thailand.....

Hi,

My first question is - do you know how tattoos are removed?
Regardless of which method is used, it can be an uncomfortable, even quite painful, procedure. Laser removal has become the most popular though usually takes more than one session unless your tat is quite small. (Average: 2-3 weeks between sessions to allow for healing.) Costs vary also but getting a tat is much cheaper than having one removed. One session can easily equal the cost of a small tattoo, meaning multiple sessions will add up to big bucks. How well removal works will also depend on where (country) and who (novice or expert artist) did the work. Location on the body can also dictate the results.

Most reputable artists will not apply another tat on an area where one has been removed. Lasering does cause scarring of the skin which won't accept the ink well. The scarring may not be visible on the surface layer but will exist in the deeper layers of the skin. An alternative to removal would be a cover-up tattoo. Again, depends on the original art. An experienced artist can do a great job at integration and cover.

Here are a couple of links which describe the assorted removal methods and results:

Thank you Isadora, for your reply and the links, ill look into them now. ;-).

I have looked into having it remvoed several years ago i was told it would take around six sessions at £60.00 a session...quire chunky for a tatto that cost £30.00 ;-(, was just wondering if any one has had it done cheaper in Thailand.

I know some of my freinds that have had them removed and the ones that have been more recent with fantastic results!! I also know of some poeople that have had some work done out in thailand and India, my nan went for 3 months and came back looking ten years younger ha!

I did look into getting it covered, but the new tattoo would need to be bigger and I hate where I have it so an even bigger would be a definate no no!!

thanks again for your quick and useful reply

xxxx

You are very welcome! I just wanted to be sure you understood what was involved and it seems you do. (Having looked into earlier.) Removal has improved greatly in a short period of time but it can consume time and money.

Good luck!
