Hello,
(1) Grand Canyon,
(2) Sedona and its red rock canyons,
(3) crazy parties on the river at Parker in the summer,
(4) Monument Valley on the Arizona-Utah border,
(5) Slot canyons near Page and Lake Powell just barely across the Utah border,
(6) winter beauty of Flagstaff,
(7) Mt. Lemon near Tucson,
(8) Old Tucson,
(9) Scottsdale (the upscale part of Phoenix),
(10) the gigantic football stadium in Glendale (near Phoenix),
(11) Tombstone (famous for Billy the Kid and Wyatt Earp),
(12) Hoover (Boulder) Dam as you cross into Nevada on the way to Las Vegas,
(13) the fountain at Fountain Hills and
(14) the Painted Desert
Calcruzer made already a long list and I have only a few to add according to own experiences:
(15) Bisbee: near Tombstone, also old west stuff and big mine nearby
(16) Chiricahua National Monument: southeastern corner of Arizona, great for hiking
(17) Saguaro National park: both eastern and western section, near Tucson
(18) Mission San Xavier del Bac (aka the White Dove of the desert): beautiful misson a few miles south of Tucson
(19) if you like it: the Air and Space Museum in Tucson is a real gem in my opinion
(20) The endless road from Tucson towards Yuma through the southern deserts.
Have fun!
A few additional places to see in AZ. is worth a stop IMO. The section of between Oatman and Seligman is worth driving. On 66 are the . While you are in Sedona, is not far away. Same with After Flagstaff heading East is the and . covers when I was there. If you are going to visit , is in the area. Good luck with your planning.
Another really interesting musuem is the Titan Missile Museum south of Tucson on the I-19. You get a tour of the underground Launch Bunker for an ICBM. It's not everybody's thing, but it's a piece of world history nonetheless.
And of course if you like a drink I would recommed the Auld Dubliner in College Gate Sq. I'm from Ireland and this is one of the best 'Irish' pubs I've come across on my travels.
If you go to Sedona have diner at Elote's Cafe. Then thank me profusely.
