Hii was just wondering for anyone thats travelled oz or is in oz atm and is working do you have to open a whole seperate bank account out there for getting paid into? also do u have to buy a new sim card for your phone or a new phone and oz sim???
When I lived in Australia, my girlfriend was able to just get a sim for her blackberry (I didn't have a cell phone). You'll have to open a bank account in Australia to deposit your paychecks. Even if your work offers direct deposit, I don't think you want to pay international transfer fees every time a paycheck is deposited. You'll also have to have a local bank account for the government to return your rental deposit (assuming you are going to rent a place).

As long as your phone is unlocked you should just be able to put an Australian sim card into it and it should be fine. Mine worked ok but quite a few people found another sim didn't work because their phones were locked for a particular network. I got a Vodafone sim when I was there and they seemed to have good deals on free texts etc.
Open a new bank account and you can ask them to let you off the fees for 6 months. if they don't ask another bank!

i have no idea , i think im just going to get a sim card and then top it up
Does anyone know anything about iphones working in Oz? I'm thinking of getting one before I come as it will be easier for internet access etc but I'm not sure if I will need to get one that is unblocked
