Middle East

Hey all,

Sounds like a great plan to me and nice choice as well!
Apart from a few safety aspects (you get a kick out of it as you say so), there are a few logistical/practical things:

First, I don't think they will let you in at this moment at all in a few countries or borders are closed between several of them. This applies for a number of countries and for a number of reasons. Syria is pretty closed for the moment. If you would travel through northern Africa, I am not sure about Libya right now, but borders between Algeria and Morocco remain closed as well.
Also, I think if you have your own transport, it is possible to travel through Saudi Arabia, but you will probably only get a 3-5 day transfer visa or something.
Not sure about borders with Iraq, but Iraq-Iran is almost certainly closed.

Also regarding one geographical aspect: you mean you can not drive from Syria to Israel I guess? You mentioned Lebanon, but that is (or at least was) possible. And Jordan doesn't border Lebanon.
Also try to get two passports in relation to visiting Israel if you visit countries like Syria first. Or skip Israel and travel by boat from Jordan to Egypt.

Have fun, whatever you decide
Michael
