Sharing room on bus tour

I'm an active female mid 60's solo traveller thinking of doing a 16 day Insight Bus Tour of Eastern Canada & USA.

Hi
I am using my grandson's blog to answer your question. I have traveled and backpacked extensively around the world and I have experienced the type of situation you are in. I have even had to sleep with females and males in backpackers and most of the people are very considerate.

First of all don't worry about sharing with someone else. There may or may not be someone you will have to share with. It will depend on the people that actually take the tour. Don't pay the supplement.

You will be surprised at how good it can be. You actually may make a new friend if you do have to share. Sixteen days is not a long trip and let's face it you will only be sleeping in the room and then most of the time you will be sightseeing.

Use common sense about your valuables. Wear a money belt and keep it on your body even when you sleep eg. passport, credit cards and money. Rule of thumb: Don't bring anything you would hate to lose.

Definitely extend your stay if you can afford it as there is so much to do and see in both places. It's a beautiful world.

Have a great time!!

Thanks Tom, you're right, travel is about new experiences and I may make a new friend or get lucky and not have to share.

Do you have any suggestions about best month to travel East Coast?

Spring (April or May) or Fall (October) would be best, in my opinion, to avoid most extremes of weather. Summer (June/July/August) travel means more crowding and hot weather.

Yes, I agree those months will be a wonderful time to go. Everything will be in bloom.

However if you want to see Central Park when the leaves change colour Mid October is the time to go. You might get in a short tour to New England as it is very beautiful.

Thanks for your suggestions. I think I'll look at mid October, would really enjoy the leaves changing colour and it will give me something to look forward to most of this year.

I know I can find out myself but what is the weather/temp. likely to be in October. I know everyone says layers of clothes but would I need coat, scarf, gloves at that time of year in East Coast Canada, NY, Washington DC.
