Not especially interested in concert halls and theaters. Can do those to my heart's content in Minneapolis!
I guess the best for you if you want some cheap music events in these cities is to visit simple bars, cafes and so on with live music. In Prague you will of course find the traditional restaurants with Czech folk music and folklore performances, while Vienna is a bit more classic with piano music.
I would simply walk around and look for places, at least if you do not want the typical concert venues. In Vienna they have some cool concert venues, like the Gasometer, so if you want a more traditional concert venue, still untraditional, I would go look for a concert there.
