Places to See and things to do in italy!!!

Hi There

Venice, Padua, Bologna, Florence, side trip to Pisa, Siena, Perugia, Rome, Naples, Capri, Pompeii to name a few.

Driving is a bit fast and furious in Italy so Collision Damage waiver insurance can be good.

Use a parking garage when possible. Not too expensive and a lot, lot cheaper than having your car towed. Obviously getting in town early helps.

Rather than join enormous queues, like the Uffizi gallery in Florence, buy tickets online.

It's some 400 miles by road to Rome and you have very little time. Maybe just Venice, Florence and Pisa, Rome, Pompeii, then drive back on your last full day?

Late July is a bad time to go. Crowds everywhere and prices at their highest. Book accommodation, etc very soon.

lowcostholidays, hostelbookers, etc.

Yes i know its not much time.

Just wanted to head down and see a bit of italy before meeting up with family in genoa.

Thanks for all the tips. Is it better to find accom. outside of rome or in rome? like will it be easier in rome but more expensive or just better to stay outside of rome? Cheers.

Italy's two largest islands, Sardinia and Sicily, are fascinating places to visit. Steeped in tradition, there are many places where you'll feel like you've taken a step back in time. Both islands have great beaches, historic sights, and wonderful food.

Southern Italy's scenic Amalfi Coast is a top vacation destination, especially in summer. Cliffs rise dramatically above the sea and picturesque villages cling to the cliffs, making for spectacular scenery.
