Im off on the 16th of January 2013, i know a while away, Im heading the Thailand first, then down to singapore over to Melbourne and working my way up to Brisbane. Just wondering if anyone is around then as im travelling alone, or if anyone has any advice on any of the countries it would be greatly appriciated.
It is a straight forward trip. To get the best price on fares, book early, as in before June.
You can book a flight to Australia, stopping at Bangkok, overland to Singapore, then on to Australia. If in the UK, pick up a copy of the Daily Mail for Saturday or Sunday and it will have a lot of knowledgeable travel companies in their flight section.
You get 30 days visa free in Thailand but you will need a visa for Australia.
Brisbane is getting on a thousand miles from Melbourne. If you hire a car there will be a very expensive one way cost. The Gold Coast south of Brisbane is a good place to visit, though I was not impressed with Brisbane itself.
Asiarooms has cheap rooms in Asia. Air conditioning is good. Hostelbookers, hostelworld and travellerspoint have cheap rooms generally. You will be going in the high season so book accommodation some months before you go.
Advice is travel light. You can buy any extras you need when abroad.
Hey, When you are planing to reach Thailand. I was there in last July (2011). As being my first time i believe i could not enjoy ...i.e lack of planing in advance.
So I will recomend you firs of all find area of interest, mark ciity or cities where you wana go and explore where the locations ad per your point of interest. Arrange them in a sequence by researching on net that what is economical plan. Get hotels booking advance on net and ensure free availability of WiFi specially other wise they ask more money.

I met an Austrailian guy name as Andy there at Thailand an old man residing there since last 12 years or more. What he advsied to me i found that absolutely correct. I reproduce the advise as below: -
Alway keep change with you while you are going to hire can or TukTuk as if you will not be having change and the driver got the chance he may runaway...
Donot keep more money in your pocket to avoid great loss due to pick pocketers. 500 Bhat is sufficient for a whole day outing even including an average girl and average food.
Be care full from hemale and shemales.... Andy says if you saw some very very beautiful girl...believe it will hemale or shemale but not a girl.
Ask the hotels where you wana stay they allow guest or not. If you are bringing a girl to your room get her registered with hotel Concerige staff and deposit her ID card there......if you will be casual about thsi securit you may get loss of valueable items..........ask me more if not clear...
Every one is in habbit of Tip even the gril you paid for will ask for Tip....so be clear.........
Keep extra money in hotel.
