There is also Versailles, Disney, etc.
Metro is the easiest way to get around. To save constantly queuing, buy a number of tickets each time. Pick up a map (plan) from the metro station too. A street map is worth the price.
Here are some of the places I visited when I went to Paris:
- The Louvre
- The Pompidou Centre
- The Arc de Triomphe
- Montmartre
- The Sacre Coeur
- Walked along the Champs Elysees
- Got picnic stuff from a deli and had lunch by the River
- The Eiffel Tower
I also got this whole 'bouquet' or metro tickets, got about ten in one go, which lasted for a while and wasn't too expensive- unfortunately I can't remember the name of these, but hopefully you'll be able to find them!
You could also go see the cathedral "notre dame de Paris". It is located on a small island on the Seine river within the city. Otherwise make sure you go to Montmartre. It's my favorite place in Paris and from there you have a magnificent view of Paris.
I'm going to the catacombs when I go in June.
