rabies jab necessary for 3 nights at lodge in amazon forest

I am going on organised tour to Rio, Iguassi falls then 3 nights in amazon rainforest staying in lodge
Have had yellow fever, Hep A, typhoid etc but can't decide whether to go for rabies jabs

Personally, I recommend skipping the rabies vaccinations. Not only is it a series but also can be quite expensive depending on where you currently reside. Common sense is your best first line of defense against rabies. Basically, do not pet the wildlife. They may be cute but you probably would avoid petting a stray dog, cat, etc. at home - follow the same rules.

The rabies vaccinations do give you approximately an additional 24 hours to seek medical attention if needed. But, since you are part of a tour group and then at a lodge, your risk of exposure is extremely low and not worth the expense. Rabies is recommended if you are veterinary personnel, working with wildlife in some form, camping often during your trip or spending most of your time in remote areas.

I do recommend Hep B if you did not receive those jabs. Most travelers now opt for the Twinex® vaccine, which is a combination of both Hep A & B. Check with the health care provider who administered your inoculations to see if you received just Hep A or the combo.
