First Timer to this site, and am looking for advice to help locate a piece of lost luggage. For over a year we have been planning a family cruise vacation with our 5 children, spouses and 6 young grandsons. In anticipation of this special vacation we had t-shirts, polo shirts, caps and totes imprinted with our family logo. Everything looked terrific! We packed it in one suitcase and checked it (MISTAKE) onto our Southwest Airlines non-stop flight to Ft Lauderdale. Arrived at FLL on Mon p.m. 3/19/12. The bag with all of these items is missing!
We have followed the routine procedures of reporting it, calling the 800 number every day to check the status of the search, etc.
Time is running out! We sail on Sunday, 3/25 and so hoped to have our special family apparel.
We have the bag tag stub and have recorded its number on SW's paperwork. The bag has two pieces of address/ownership: an attached identification tag and an identification card inserted into a pocket on the back of the suitcase.
Any advice on extra efforts on our part or requests of the airline would be greatly appreciated.

Not a lot you can do if an uninterested airline isn't bothered.
If someone hasn't taken it home, it'll probably end up being sold item by item at a lost baggage store.
Relief! After 4 full days of inquiry, I went back to Baggage Claim at Ft Lauderdale Airport. They had a similar suitcase not picked up from the same flight we'd arrived on, but no claim for it. The phone info was their home number in Colorado.
I noticed an ID card in an outside pocket of the suitcase. Voila! more info including cell numbers!
SWA contacted them and they had not realized until that call that they'd taken the wrong bag. Luckily the idiots are staying in the Miami area and are presently enroute to our hotel to bring our suitcase to us.
In the end, SWA did finally connect the possibility of the unclaimed bag being mistaken for ours, But had not looked beyond the paper baggage tag for other identification information.
Token apologies on the phone from the bag snatchers.
Lesson learned: Don't check important items. If at allossible, keep them in carry-on bags.
All aboard now for our long anticipated family cruise!

That is it. Luggage is mass produced so some careless person can pick up your case thinking it is their's. Tie a bit of bright ribbon to it next time.
