Hey guys I am going to KL late April to early May, wondering if there are others out there who are going there alone too? Or already there and if I can join them.
Josh, get yourself over to the in chinatown. Loads of backpackers hang out there day and night. There is a number of great backpackers accommodations in this area too.
Malaysia KL in late April to early May is best option to you.

I don't know if you have been to K/L before, but assuming you haven't and are arriving at the LCCT international airport. As you exit after customs, there will be 5 kiosks to your left, selling bus tickets. There are about 3 or 4 different company's, but they all offer pretty much the same bus for 8-9 RM to downtown K/L. Get a ticket and ask where to get the bus, but its basically at the end of the airport terminal to your left as you walk out.
The bus stops at K/L Sentral the main train terminal, and takes about 45mins. The bus has been stopping at different drop offs over the last year, as they are doing major renovations, but again just ask, everyone is really friendly, you need to ask for the LRT (light rail)part of the station. There are basically three different train systems that connect at Sentral, the commuter trains going to the outer burbs, (komuter), the monorail, and LRT. Once you get to the LRT terminal, get a ticket to Pasar Seni, it's one stop north, costs about 1rm. This puts you right at the southern edge of Chinatown and from there you can get to a number of backpackers and all the action.
The other popular backpacker area in K/L is Bukit Bintang. This is the big shopping area. There is probably more choice of food and bars here, but I prefer the vibe in Chinatown. Bukit Bintang is a fun challenge to take the monorail to from Chinatown, or even better, walk it in about 45 mins.
