I would go to KL by AirAsia, just a short hop. But if you want to go by bus, this might help:

AirAsia flights are every few hours and start from £0 plus £16 in various taxes, one way, so cheap. Don't book too late if you use them.

As to accommodation, cheap from hostelbookers. Reasonable prices and better accommodation from asiarooms.

You should try the 'accommodation' option top of this page. are the listings for KL. I would pick several and then hop over to 'tripadvisor' and read some reviews for that hostel, hotel. Decide what is best for you.
